Notes
How to make Chicken Khichdi
Step 1: First we need to marinate the Chicken. For this take the chick, wash them, then add salt, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder and red chili powder to it. Mix them well and set it aside for at-least 30 minutes.
Step 2: Meanwhile, finely chop all the veggies, which are required for the recipe.
Step 3: Now take a pre-heated fry pan and add oil into it. Put the potato pieces into the oil and fry them into little red in color.
Step 4: Using the same oil, add dried red chili, bay leaves, cumin seeds and wait for the splutter.
Step 5: At this time add chopped onion and fry them until brown in color. Once done add ginger garlic paste and fry them for 2 minutes.
Step 6: Now add the chopped tomatoes and green onions, fry them for another 2 minutes. When all veggies are roasted properly, add the marinated chicken on it.
Step 7: Roast the chicken on low flame. Its good practice to use a lid to cover the frypan in between stirring.
Step 8: Once the oil starts coming out from the chicken, it indicates that the chick is cooked. Keep it aside for sometime.
Step 9: Take a normal pressure cooker, add 3+ 1/2 cup of water and wait for boiling. When it starts boiling add washed rice and dal together and wait for boiling again.
Step 10: Now add the cooked chicken inside the cooker, and cook it up to 2 whistle. Our chicken khichdi is now done, switch of the stove and give it some time to release the pressure inside the cooker.
Step 11: Open the lid and add 1 tbsp ghee and coriander leaves for the flavor. Mix it well and keep the lid closed for some more time to get the flavor evenly absorbed.
Serve it hot, enjoy the Chicken Khichdi with some fried veggies along with your family.
