Chivda Mixture, also known simply as Chivda or Chiwda, is a popular Indian snack mix that is both flavorful and crunchy. It is a traditional and versatile snack that is often enjoyed with tea or as a quick bite between meals.

Ingredients

1cup-240ml; 1tablespoon – 15ml; 1teaspoon – 5ml;

Ingredients:

– 3 cups Chivda (poha)

– 2 tbsp Peanuts

– 2 tbsp Cashew nuts

– 2 tbsp Coconut Slices

– 2 tbsp Raisins

– 2 bunches Curry leaves

– Salt to taste

– ¼ tsp Turmeric powder

– ¼ tsp Chaat masala

– ¼ tsp red chilli powder

– Sufficient Vegetable Oil for frying


How to make Chivda Mixture

1. Heat sufficient vegetable oil in a deep pan or kadhai over medium heat. Add the chivda (poha) to the hot oil and fry until they turn crispy and light golden. Be careful not to burn them.

Note: You can also microwave them in small batches for 2-3 minutes.

2. In the same oil, fry the peanuts until they become golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside.

3. Next, fry the cashew nuts until they turn golden. Remove and set aside. Fry the coconut slices until they become light brown. Remove and set aside.

4. Finally, in the same oil, add the curry leaves and fry until they become crispy. Remove and set aside.

5. In the same oil, mix salt, turmeric powder, chaat masala, raisins and red chilli powder. Finaly add the fried nuts and coconut.

6. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the fried chivda and mix well. Ensure that the spices coat the chivda evenly.

7. Combine the fried peanuts, cashew nuts, coconut slices, raisins, curry leaves, and seasoned chivda. Toss everything together gently to mix.

8. Allow the chivda mixture to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container. Store in a cool, dry place. It stays fresh for several days.

9. Serve this homemade chivda mixture as a delicious and crispy snack. It pairs well with tea or coffee and is perfect for festive occasions or as a savory treat.
