Preparation Time : 15 minutes

Ingredients

1cup-240ml; 1tablespoon – 15ml; 1teaspoon – 5ml;

1st Layer – Chocolate Cake:

– 11 Bourbon biscuits

– 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)

– 1 tbsp powdered sugar

– 1 tbsp melted butter

– 1 tsp cocoa powder

– ½ tsp baking powder

– ½ cup milk (to make a soft batter)

2nd Layer – Coffee Syrup:

– 1 + 1/2 tsp instant coffee

– 2/3 cup water

3rd Layer – Soft Chocolate Layer:

– 18 cubes or 99g of dark chocolate

– 2 cups milk (at room temperature)

– ½ cup whipping cream

– 2 tbsp cocoa powder

– 3 tbsp cornstarch

– 4 tbsp sugar

4th Layer – Chocolate Layer:

– 18 cubes or 99g of malted dark chocolate

5th Layer – Dusting:

– 2 tbsp cocoa powder


How to make chocolate dream cake

1. Chocolate Cake (1st Layer):

a. In a food processor or blender, crush the bourbon biscuits into fine crumbs.

b. Transfer the biscuit crumbs into a mixing bowl and add all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, melted butter, cocoa powder, and baking powder.

c. Gradually add milk while stirring to form a soft batter.

d. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F).

e. Grease a round cake pan and pour the cake batter into it.

f. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

g. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely.

2. Coffee Syrup (2nd Layer):

a. In a small bowl, mix the instant coffee with water until it dissolves completely.

b. Set aside the coffee syrup.

3. Soft Chocolate Layer (3rd Layer):

a. In a saucepan, combine the dark chocolate, milk, whipping cream, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and sugar.

b. Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate is melted, and the mixture thickens to a custard-like consistency.

c. Remove from heat and let the chocolate layer cool slightly.

4. Assembling the Cake:

a. Once the chocolate cake has cooled, poke several holes all over the surface using a fork.

b. Pour the coffee syrup over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

c. Gently spread the soft chocolate layer (3rd Layer) over the soaked cake.

d. Wait to set the layer properly or refrigerate for 30 minutes.

5. Chocolate Layer (4th Layer):

a. Place the malted dark chocolate cubes evenly over the soft chocolate layer. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.

6. Dusting (5th Layer):

a. Now sieve the cocoa powder over the top of the cake, ensuring even coverage.

7. Chilling and Serving:

a. Place the assembled cake in the refrigerator to set for at least 4 hours or until firm.

b. Once the cake is set, slice it into pieces and serve chilled. Enjoy your Chocolate Dream Cake!
