Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a delicious baked treat that originated in Sweden and have become popular worldwide. They are made from a soft, sweet dough that is rolled out and spread with a mixture of cinnamon, sugar, and sometimes butter.

Ingredients

1cup-240ml; 1tablespoon – 15ml; 1teaspoon – 5ml;

For the Cinnamon Mix:

– Brown sugar – 2 tbsp

– Cinnamon powder – ½ tsp

To Activate the Dry Yeast:

– Lukewarm milk – ½ cup

– Dry yeast – 1 tsp

– Sugar – 1 tsp

For the Bread Dough:

– All-purpose flour (Maida) – 1 cup

– Salt – to taste

– Sugar – 1 tbsp

– Butter – 1 tbsp

To Layer the Roll:

– Butter – 2 tbsp

– Cinnamon mix (from the first step)


How to make Cinnamon Rolls

1. In a bowl, combine lukewarm milk, dry yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

2. In another bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon powder. Set aside.

3. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (Maida), salt, and sugar. Add the activated yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients.

4. Knead the mixture into a soft, elastic dough. You can use additional flour if needed.

5. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Meanwhile grease a baking tray using butter or oil.

7. Cut the dough into equal 4 parts. Roll out each dough on a floured surface into a rectangular shape.

8. Spread sufficient butter evenly over the one side of the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon mix over the butter layer.

9. Starting from one end, tightly roll the dough and make some cuts on the other end. Brush with water and roll it. Follow the same for the rest of the dough.

10. Place the rolls in a greased baking pan, leaving some space between them. let it rest for another 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.

11. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the rolls turn golden brown.

12. Allow the cinnamon rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade cinnamon rolls with a cup of coffee or tea!
