Corn Salad

Corn Salad is one of the most healthiest salad item, it can be prepared by many ways. Including non-veg ingredient you also may make it Chicken Corn Salad or Prawn Corn Salad. It’s totally upon you what do you want on your plate.

In my dish I have not included so much exotic ingredients, rather then I have made it in pure Indian style. Even though we Indian are not very use to this Corn Salad.

Indians love to eat burn corn with some salt and lemon juice. I know it’s very simple dish but it is tasty and very delicious.

Main ingredient of Corn Salad is sweet corns. There are various type of corns are available in market. Some of them are used for corn flour making, some of them are used for corn flakes and popcorns. Sweet corn is mainly harvest for raw eating purpose.

Sweet corn take very less time to cook and also has a fabulous taste which enhance our ordinary to a great level.

Fitness trainers and Doctors always recommended different type of salads and fruits to make you lifestyle healthier. Although we are forced to follow it but they really positive impact in your activity.

By the name of salads we use to thing that it would contain lots of raw vegetable, olive oil and salt. And how could a human being eat such raw thing. Even some people compare themselves as cow.

Salad could be many types like fruit salad, vegetable salad chicken salad, prawn salad, Italian salad and many more.

INGREDIENTS

*1cup_250ml, *1tbsp._Tablespoon(15 ml) , *1tsp._Teaspoon(5 ml)

  • Sweet corn (with husk)- 1 cup
  • Lettuce – 3 leaves
  • Onion – 1 medium
  • Tomato – 1 small
  • Coriander leaves- 1/4 cup
  • Lemon juice – 1/2 tsp
  • Chili flakes – 1/4 tsp (optional)
  • Green chili – 1 (optional)
  • Chat masala – 1 tsp.
  • Butter (melted) – 1 tsp
  • salt – 1/2 tsp

Notes

1.  Always choose sweet corn to prepare nay kind of salad dish. It has a unique sweet taste and also takes less time to get boil.
 
2. I have boiled the corn in the oven, it took 8 minutes. If you don’t want to then 1st peel the corn and then put it in a normal pressure cooker and cook it up to 3 whistle. You will get your soft and sweet corn kernels.
 
3. The most challenging part of a sweet corn is how to remove the corn kernels. It would be easy when your corn is cooked properly and you can easily remove kernels by a fork. 
 
4. Chop tomato, onion and coriander as small as possible but cut the lettuce medium to little bigger then other veggies.
 
5. Don’t microwave the salad after mixing all the ingredients into it. Else veggies will release water and your salad will get soupy texture.
 
6. I have included chili flakes and green chili in my dish, but I have mentioned that both ingredients are optional. So if you want to skip spicy flavor in the Corn Salad, just avoid chili.
 
7. At the beginning I said that this recipe is totally inspired by Indian recipes. So I have included coriander leaves behalf of parsley. Both are kind of same but east or west coriander is the best for we Indians. 😎
 
8. You can see in my ingredients photo that I have not added tomato on the plate. It was just a mistake. And I have made it correct in my next photos.

How to make corn salad

Step 1: For this recipe we need to boil the sweet corn. I have put it in oven and set it for 8 minutes at microwave mode. I have used corn with husk and it is good for boiling it in oven. I have done this process several times and it came out perfectly.

Tip: Instead of oven boil it using a normal pressure cooker and cook it for up to 3 whistles. In that case peel the husk form it before putting inside the cooker. Even you can used packet sweet corn directly in the dish.

Step 2: We need to wait for at least 3-4 minutes to cool down the corn. then only we can remove its kernels form the main part.

Step 3: Meanwhile chop all the ingredients which are needed in the dish. Like onion, tomato, coriander and lettuce.

Step 4: After that go for the peeling the kernels step. For this process we need more then 2 minutes, if it cooked properly.

Step 5: Now add all the corn kernels in a big bowl and then add all other veggies in the bowl one by one. Mix them all using spoon.

Step 6: At this point add 1 tsp of chat masala, melted butter and salt. give a last stir and done. Our delicious and healthy Corn Salad is ready.
