Hara Bhara Kebab

Hara Bhara Kebab is a popular vegetarian Indian appetizer that originated in the Indian subcontinent. The name “Hara Bhara” translates to “green” in Hindi, which reflects the vibrant green color of these kebabs. Ingredients

1cup-240ml; 1tablespoon – 15ml; 1teaspoon – 5ml;

To blanch the palak and peas:

– Palak (spinach) – 250gm

– Green peas – 1/3 cup

To coarsely grind the kebab mixture:

– Blanched peas and palak

– Garlic – 7 cloves

– Ginger – 1 inch

– Coriander leaves – ¼ cup

– Green chillies – 2-3 pieces

To make the kebab dough:

– Blended mixture (from above)

– Coriander powder – ½ tsp

– Cumin powder – ½ tsp

– Chaat masala – ½ tsp

– Garam masala – 1/8 tsp

– Paneer (shredded) – ¼ cup

– Cornstarch – 1 tbsp

– Bread crumbs – 4 tbsp

– Boiled potato – 1 medium size

– Nutmeg powder – a pinch

– Salt to taste

To garnish the kebabs:

– Whole cashew nuts – 10 pieces

To fry the kebabs:

– Sufficient oil to fry


How to make Hara Bhara Kebab

1. Boil water in a pot, add palak and peas. Blanch for 2-3 minutes, then drain and keep aside.

2. In a food processor, combine blanched peas and palak, garlic, ginger, coriander leaves, and green chillies. Pulse to a coarse mixture.

3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the coarsely ground mixture with coriander powder, cumin powder, chaat masala, garam masala, shredded paneer, cornstarch, bread crumbs, boiled potato (mashed), nutmeg powder, and salt.

4. Mix everything thoroughly to form a dough-like consistency.

5. Take a portion of the kebab mixture and shape it into a round or oval kebab. Press a whole cashew nut gently into the center.

6. Heat sufficient oil in a pan over medium heat.

7. Gently place the shaped kebabs into the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown on both sides.

8. Remove and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.

9. Serve the Hara Bhara Kebabs hot with mint chutney or your favorite dip.
