I am a non-vegetarian, and I love chicken and love to do experimental dish with it. Lemon Chicken is one those experiments, which turned out delicious. It didn’t came well first time, but didn’t lost hope and tried several iterations of it. Finally it turned out the way I wanted it.
Lemon Chicken is a bit of tangy and little bit spicy dish. It is made with milk cream, flavor of lemon and spiciness of chili and black pepper.
Unlike other chicken dishes, this dish takes lesser time to prepare, and easier to prepare as well.
Me and my family love varieties in our food. So I get enough encouragement to do experiments with recipes. I have invented several new recipes doing so. Recipeonplate is a collection of all those recipes with some popular and authentic ones as well.
I always prefer to marinate the chicken overnight for better taste. For that, I add some amount of salt and turmeric into the chicken, mix it and let it marinate overnight inside a refrigerator.
Let’s dive into the main recipe.
INGREDIENTS
*1cup_250ml/230gms, *1tbsp._Tablespoon, *1tsp._Teaspoon
- Chicken – 300 gm
- Lemon – 1 piece
- Green chili – 3 pieces
- Garlic – 1 tbsp.
- Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
- Black pepper – 1 tsp
- Chili flakes- 1 tsp
- Milk cream – 1/2 cup
- Water – 1/4 (or less than 1/4 cup)
- Butter – 1 tbsp.
- Salt – 1tsp

How to make lemon chicken
Step 1: Firstly we need to take out our marinated chicken (marinated with 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder) from refrigerator and wait till it gets near room temperature. After that cut them according to your preference.
Step 2: After that, add black pepper and gently coat the chicken pieces using your finger. Wait for another 5 minutes.
Step 3: Meanwhile chop all the ingredients which need to chop. Like garlic, green chili, coriander leaves and lemon.
Step 4: It’s time to fry the chicken pieces. Take a frypan and preheat it . Preheating is the process which prevents sticking the food to the pan. Then add 2 tbsp. of butter on the pan and wait for melting.
Step 5: Now add chicken pieces one by one into the frypan. Fry them properly and continue flipping sides in between. It needs around 10-15 minutes to fry properly on low flame. Take them out on a plate.
Step 6: Add chopped garlic into the same pan and fry it for 1 minutes. then add green chilies, mix them well. Add 1/8 cup of water and wait for boiling.
Step 7: Once water starts boiling, add 1/2 cup of fresh cream into it and mix it well. After that add fried chicken pieces, lemon pieces (not preferred) / lemon juice and chili flakes into it.
Tips: I have not used salt during the cooking because I have initially used sufficient salt for marination.
Step 8: Cover the fry pan with a lid and wait for 3-4 minutes. Flip all the chicken pieces and turn off the stove.
Step 9: It’s time to give final touch on the dish. Sprinkle all chopped coriander leaves and mix them. Serve it with hot rice or roti. I hope you will like it.
