The basic concept involves slitting or cutting a loaf of bread, typically a baguette or Italian bread, and stuffing it with a mixture of garlic, butter, herbs, and often cheese.

Ingredients

1cup-240ml; 1tablespoon – 15ml; 1teaspoon – 5ml;

To activate the yeast:

– Lukewarm water – ½ cup

– Sugar – 1 tsp

– Dry yeast – 1 tsp

For the garlic bread dough:

– Maida (All-purpose flour) – 1+1/4 cup

– Chilli flakes – ¼ tsp

– Oregano – ½ tsp

– Salt to taste

– Oil – 1 tbsp

– Garlic (chopped) – 1 tbsp

– Yeast water (from above)

To make the stuffing:

– Mushrooms – ½ cup

– Butter – 1 tbsp

– Garlic (Chopped) – 1 tbsp

– Chopped green chilli – 2 pieces

– Spring onions – ¼ cup

– Oregano – ½ tsp

– Salt to taste

– Chilli flakes – ½ tsp

– Mozzarella cheese – ½ cup


How to make Stuffed Garlic Bread

1. In a bowl, combine lukewarm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the activated yeast mixture with maida, chilli flakes, oregano, salt, oil, and chopped garlic.

3. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 30-40 minutes, or until it doubles in size.

4. In a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped garlic and sauté until golden brown.

5. Add mushrooms, chopped green chilli, and spring onions. Cook until the mushrooms are tender.

6. Season the mixture with oregano, salt, and chilli flakes. Allow it to cool. Once cooled, mix in the mozzarella cheese.

7. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

8. Punch down the risen dough and roll out into a round shape.

9. Spread the prepared stuffing evenly over one side of the round roti and cover it with the other edge, sealing the edges using water and fork.

10. Place the stuffed garlic bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

11. Allow the stuffed garlic bread to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious homemade stuffed garlic bread!
