Til Ke Ladoo

Til ke ladoo, also known as sesame seed ladoo, is a traditional Indian sweet that is commonly prepared during festivals like Makar Sankranti, Lohri, and other celebrations. These ladoos are made with sesame seeds (til), jaggery (gur), and sometimes include other ingredients like nuts and cardamom for flavor.

Ingredients

1cup-240ml; 1tablespoon – 15ml; 1teaspoon – 5ml;

For the Ladoo:

– Til (Sesame Seeds) – 1/2 cup (100g)

– Gur (Jaggery Powder) – 1/3 cup

– Cow Ghee – 1 tbsp

– Water – 2 tbsp

To add extra flavour:

– Chopped Cashews – 1 tbsp

– Pistachios – 1 tbsp


How to make Til Ke Ladoo

1. Heat a non-stick pan on medium flame. Add sesame seeds (til) and dry roast them until they turn slightly golden in color and release a nutty aroma.

2. Keep stirring continuously to prevent burning. Once roasted, transfer them to a plate and let them cool.

3. Keep 3 tablespoons of sesame seeds aside and grind the rest of the sesame seeds coarsely.

4. In the same pan, add jaggery powder, cow ghee and water. Heat on low flame until the jaggery melts and forms a syrup. Cook the for 3-4 minutes at low heat.

5. Place few drops of syrup in water to test its consistency. If it can form a ball and is still soft, then it is ready

6. Switch of the heat, add the grounded sesame seeds and roasted sesame seeds. Stirring continuously.

7. Ensure that the mixture combines uniformly and reaches a consistency where it can be easily shaped into ladoos.

8. Add chopped cashews and pistachios to the mixture. Mix well to distribute the nuts evenly.

9. Allow the mixture to cool slightly so that it can be comfortably handled.

10. Grease your palms with a bit of ghee to prevent sticking. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round ladoos. Press firmly to ensure they hold their shape.

11. If desired, garnish the ladoos with additional chopped nuts for a decorative touch.

12. Allow the Til Ke Ladoos to cool completely before serving. Store them in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
